Situated in Detroit, this architectural tribute blends historical preservation with active, modern spaces—inviting residents and visitors alike to engage with the revolutionary teachings, self-determination, and enduring legacy of Malcolm X.
Mario Moore is an award winning, Detroit-born artist whose work honors history, culture and the human spirit. He is renowned for his stunningly realistic, narrative-driven portraiture and sculptures that center Black history, labor, and identity. Committed to the monumental task of honoring Malcolm X at this historic Detroit plaza, Moore channels his consummate archival research and technical mastery into bronze. His work serves as a living bridge between the pivotal histories of Detroit’s labor movements and the eternal power of those who dared to stand for the people. Through his art, he ensures that stories of strength, resilience and courage live on for generations to come.
